Education
Higher Education
We are working to catalog clean energy courses offered at CSU so that students will have an easier time finding related courses across disciplinary boundaries. We are also working with the Education Task Force of the Colorado Collaboratory to develop a coordinated plan to increase the quality and quantity of professionals entering the rapidly growing clean energy work force of Colorado and beyond.
CSU Extension
CSU Extension has agents spread across the state as a service to the citizens of Colorado. These agents are regularly asked about the latest sustainable technologies and practices being developed at CSU. We are working with these extension agents to give them the information and tools they need to help citizens improve their livelihood while also helping the planet.
K-12 Education
The faculty of Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, with the assistance of CSU faculty from the Supercluster, are developing an integrated cross-curricular theme that involves green concepts such as clean energy, conservation, and recycling to help address climate change at a local level. We plan to document our successes and failures with the goal of serving as a model for other schools nationwide.
Informal Education
The Discovery Science Center and Fort Collins Museum are merging and relocating to a site across College Avenue from the CSU Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory. Although the new museum is still in the planning stages, we are exploring ways to work together.
Outreach
Faculty regularly participate in annual events, both on campus and off. Most notably these events include: Focus the Nation, Colorado State Science and Engineering Fair, El Centro Math, Science, Tech Day, Beet Street Cafe Scientifique, Earth Day, and the Sustainable Living Fair.
